User interface confusing. Files saved in a private place that I cannot find. Tried to send product support question, but could not succeed. I could not get their webpage to accept my question. Even their product support is impossible to figure out. Totally useless product.
First test, did bot work at all
lost $30, it is not working, tried to acpture a video, results= nothing je me suis fais volé!!!
They’ve made improvements to the original, so this version of the App works fine now. Simply size up your capture area and press the Record button. When you’re done, save it in the format you want. Easy! There is a little bit of loss of quality in the recorded audio, but not enough to worry me. All in all, it works just fine for the purpose in which it is intended.

I used this program for an online class. It worked when many others as well as PC programs would not. THANKS
This is a great screen capture app - really easy to use. I used a USB mic to do voice overs as I captured demos of my software. Quick and easy, and very flexible for screen size.
Fail
Dont buy if your a gamer, if your gonna use this to film, dont it crashes and may freeze your computer. I am dissapointed with this purchess.
Using a Mac Air, I wanted to capture a news feed posted by CNN Headline news. I paid $30 for this app. I set the screen around the video I was recording and let it play for 5 minutes. When the video was done the app just crashed. The good news is that it did record. I force-quite the app and restarted. I opened the file that was created and it did indeed record. However, playback was like watching a chinese theatre matchup (the sound and video was way off). I coverted the file and uploaded it to You Tube. It worked but still the video and audio didn’t match up perfectly. It was ok for what I needed by far from perfect. Not worth $29.99.
I have tried to use this application on three separate occasions and on all three occasions it locked up the computer. Nothing else I can say. It never worked.
I thought I had an issue with Movavi on Family Sharing, but it turned out it was more related to the App Store sign-in. I contacted support and got immediate help via the Chat Line. To the best of my knowledge, Movavi works as descibes and I have no issues with it. I use it primarily as a time transformer to record live online instructional videos so as to be played back and/or reviewed at a more convenient time.
Waste of money
All it records is a black screen. What a total waste of money.

Scam product
Records sound with trial version but not paid version. This was also noted in another review. There is an accessory app, SoundGrabber, that is supposed to correct the problem, but won’t install. Using Mac mini M4 Pro, Sequoia 15.7.2
Great app for screen recording
Does exactly what you want it to do. I use it all of the time. Captures audio great as well, if you want to capture music. Obviously a great app for screen recording. One of the best desktop apps I have ever used on my mac from the app store.

Sound does not work
I just bought the software, I click on the microphone for it to recognize my sound sources (computer speakers, audio interface) and nothing happens. Video is recorded without audio. I going to get my money back
Terrible program - terrible support
Sound recording doesn't work and Movavi support won't answer my requests for help. Their trouble shooting guides are way, way out of date -- they want you to make changes to Mac OS 10.1, I'm using 14.6 and none of the screens shown are around any more. I'm just stuck with a program that won't record sound--I will never buy a product from Movavi again.
It works... not well
Very jumpy, video. BUT the very WORST Support of any product ever.
Need additional work to record system sound
I can't love this app because in order for me to capture video with audio I need to install Movavi Sound Grabber as well as the Screen Recorder app. It's confusing when I try to unmute the system sound and the pop-up alert tells me I have to delete ACE, but the directions they give to do that don't work for my machine. It's a hassle. I'm out.

I would caution you before purchase
Installed and no audio on playback. Sends you down a confusing rabbit hole to troubleshoot. I wish I did not make this purchase.
Just doesn't work
Submit a ticket! We will follow up! If the app doesn't work - screen recordings - when I download it from the app storie you have failed and man that was a lot of money to waste. Five seconds reading the reviews could have helped, my bad. Avoid this app. Google "The recoding file may be corrupted or inaccessible movavi" to see. oi!
Stopped Working on Apple Silicon
Got a new Macbook Air. Movavi no longer works. Either an ARM issue or a new OS issue (Ventura). Just crashes when you click the stop recording button. No recording is output, just crash. Total bummer.
Works every time I needed it
I have been using this app since 2019 and have never had any issues. I capture screen videos for training purposes.

Awesome program until Apple came out with macOS Montery, the program no longer works on my imac.
Worthless Overpriced Junk!
Worthless Grossly Over Priced Junk! Doesn't work! Does NOT record what is on the screen. Help menu and manual useless! I want my money back!!!!!
Very Poor Performance
App does not work on new Macbook air. Sound recorder does not work. Very unfunctionable. Had this app on a previous apple mac and seemed ok. Highly disappointed. Have spent days with tech support from the app and Apple.
Stopped Working
All of a sudden the app stopped working right. I keep getting the following error and cannot fix it. Cannot open the following recording: /Users/(user name)/Movies/Movavi Screen Recorder/ScreenRecorderProject21.mkv The recording file may be damaged or inaccessible.
crashes everytime I stop the video recording
Using a m1 macbook air and it crashes everytime i stop the video or go to the editor window.
Updated Review
I went to use Moavi screen recorder after not using for months and it didn't work anymore. For this I gave them a bad review. Apple saw the bad review and gave me a link to the developer who responded to me in minutes and immediately fixed the problem. Never had customer service this good! The app appears to be working great!
Support is excellent
The software has an issue with full screen capturing. Anton from support patiently spent over an hour trying to idenity the issue with m setup (M1 computer and 12.3 Monterey. He was able to make the capture work but could not solve the full-screen issue. But he kicked that up to development and promises a solution pronto. The company is impressive and the support is outstanding. I'd buy from them without hesitation.
App not working after last update.
This app used to work really well outside of lagging audio at times. Now after the update I get an error message every time I try to save the video file. It says it can't find it. I even tried to remap to a new folder but got the same problem. very annoyed as I need use it today as I finally have the time to work on my project. **Update** OK so after a few weeks of sporadic contact with the developer and them telling me that a hotfix was available directly from them and that the updated hotfix has been in Apple's hands for a few weeks now and that it is up to them to update their Mac app. I had to uninstall and redownload directly from the Movavi website. After the install it asked me for a Activation Key which of course I didn't have since I made my 2017 purchase here on the app store. After much debate about them wanting me to either be patient and wait however long until Apple gets around to doing their job and updating the app or I could buy an activation code from them at a "generous" 50% off. I complained enough that as of today I was given a rare exception and given an activation code for a product that I already owned. Now the Screen Recorder works perfectly again and I can go about my work as usual. Because of this I am going to increase my rating for them since they finally came through with treating me with the respect I deserved and honoring my original purchase.
Blank Screen on Movie clips
This recorder will no longer allow you to just record your screen. If you are trying to capture from Apple TV, Netflix, Disney or basically any streaming service. Clips being used in non profit situations.
Apps is not working after 2 weeks
App been doing great until yesterday. It is able to record the entire session but give error when saving the videos. Lucky it is able to save the sound of the videos. So disappointed!!!
Does not work on BigSur
i have just updater to BigSur and cannot screen record any sound, recording meetings picture is fine but without sound no help
Easy and Fun To Use
Movavi Screen Recorder is the best in its class I've come across. Whether you want to keep a whole YouTube video or a tailored clip it will take the whole view of the video window or only the section with just what you want to keep. It will also record the "unrecordable" videos that play on Pinterist. And if you want to make a YouTube video it will record whatever you are doing on your screen. Then you can clip out and trash any portions of a recording you don't want to keep, either immediately after recording or at any time thereafter if you save the MKV raw file. I do admit you have to sit through the whole recording session, there is no fast download, but processing the file is super fast. But again, once the file is on your disk you have to recognize moving it from one disk to another can be a drag, which is the fault of our hardware, not the recorder program. So I give it five stars and two thumbs up.

Does not work. Don't waste your money. I bought this app. I couldn' get it to record the sound, just the silent video portion. I notified support and asked for help after a long delay and my writing this reveiw they finally responded.
Will not record audio
I have wasted so much time, and other people's time, trying to do screen captures. No matter what I do, I wind up with a screen recording with no audio. I would give it zero stars if I could because it has a negative value -- I paid for something that just wastes my time.
Had trouble getting audio recording to work
Audio recording is a separate download (WHY? It's not a separate download for the non-Appstore version on the developer's site... whatever). I installed the audio recording plugin, but still couldn't record audio from other apps. Whenever I clicked the sound icon, it would just tell me to download the audio plugin again. Finally, I uninstalled the plugin and installed the 1.x version of the plugin, which is also listed on the download page. That finally worked. Other than that wasted time, the program works really well and has a nice UI.
Works pretty well
Does what is is supposed to do. I sometimes have trouble getting the audio settings correct. Wish ths was more clear but does what I need it to do.
Sound recording stopped working
This app has bugs, often doesn't grab sound, video exports can have issues. And now, it doesn't work at all for exporting video with sound.
Utter Garbage!
This app only does screen capture for your actice screen (i.e. won't work with multiple virtual desktops and does not capture video in the background.
Works but needs third-party apps for audio
The screen recording part of the app works great however, the system audio recording does not work properly. The app needs you to install the "Sound Grabber app", which will let you record audio but it takes away the volume controls (super frustrating). A work around is to purchase and use a third party app called Loopback and create a virtual device and select your microphone and all the apps you wish to record. Then in the Movavi app, select the microphone and switch it to the virtual device you created in Loopback. This will let you record your screen and audio properly. Secondly, the app records in mkv format which is not natively supported by finder so there are no quick previews. It gets very annoying when you are trying to run through a bunch or recordings. You can use a fast converter like remux to basically change the extension from mkv to mp4 which is instant.
More window control would be nice
This app works well. I like it. The only thing I find annoying is that it does not remember changes to the size and location of the window that opens after a recording, where one trims and exports the video just recorded. I would like to change the location and size of the window and see those changes preserved the next time I finish recording video.
Did not work with MBP Big Sur
App looked promising but was unable to overcome permissions issue. Developer was not helpful, just sent generic articles.

Great for screen and audio recording
It's not that intuitive to use for audio recording but all you have to do is follow the directions on their website. Easy to trim video you've recorded, right in the app.
Sound doesnt work while recording
It doesnt allow you to hear sound while you are recording something. kind of a big deal.
Finally one that does it all
I bought this with the hope that I could record voice AND system audio (while being able to hear the system audio through my headphones). Exactly what I wanted - this is making life so much easier now.

I have not been able to record audio which is why I purchased it. Even after successful downloads of MovaviSoundGrabber. How do I make this work or please refund.
Doesn't work on Mojave
New purchase crashes on launch..... will not work on my computer running Mojave. Support hasn't answered in over a week. older versions you download from their website are 7 day test versions. Poor customer service. Beware. I'll update this if they ever answer my request.

Does Not Work With Earbuds
Unable to make it work listening to the video while using a headset for a webinar where we had to participate using the microphone. I records videos but can't interact.
Works, does what it says, I use it a every day I teach
I'm teaching music composition online. I record every lesson and send a link to the video to my students. This product really does work, and does things you can't do with screen recording in Quicktime. My students appreciate that I capture keystrokes which are displayed on screen in the video. Some comments: I really wish you could turn the camera on and off during a recording, maybe while in pause. If I want the camera on some and off some, I have to make two separate videos for the student. Also, if you're teaching with sound coming from various applications, not just your microphone, you need Loopback from Rogue-Amoeba software so that you can blend your microphone audio with audio from you other apps, and have it all recorded by Movavi. The product works well as is, but if you want to record audio from other apps, you can mess with creating new aggregate or multi-audio devices using Soundflower, or use Loopback. I wish Screen Recorder Movavi had these options built in. As it is, I've found Loopback to be an essential part of the tool kit to use with Movavi. There is a learning curve, and some things you only find out by experimenting that aren't terribly clear in documentaiton. But after you do that, it works very well for what it does do.
Waste of Money!
I used SnapZ Pro for many years and loved it. Bought this as a replacement to record a Powerpoint for a Virtual Graduation. I wanted to capture the audio from my computer and installed their audio grabber plugin. When I toggled in Movavi to capture the system audio, I found out that I cannot monitor the audio that the program is capturing, therefore not being able to record my slide show. I talked to tech support and they told me that is what was supposed to happen. For me that is a complete waste of money. I am very disappointed!
Spend the money on this one, it's worth it
It captures quality video, and audeo flawlessly with ease. Simple to save files in several different formats, and easy to share with Photos.
Turn up speakers with built in mic for capturing audio!
Great app, but no built in functionality for capturing audio with a video you are playing. You can still get that by using your pc speakers and mic. Overall, would highly recommend as a nice app for profession screen recording.
Doesn't work
I can't get anything in the recording except the desktop and cursor. No files, browsers, videos, ANYTHING get recorded. IF it records sound then it puts the video out of sync or mutes the video all together. This doesn't work...so dissapointed i spent money on this...
As Advertised but...
I've only been using this app for about 5 minutes. THis app does not sound recording form the original download, You have to DL the sound grabber from the developers website. Dont worry, it's free. So far the app works as advertised and the sound quality and video resalution are good. The problem is that the recorded video itself is a bit jumpy (frame by frame). I'm not sure if it's a driver on my MAC or something in the app itself. I'm running macOS Catalina with Radeon pro 570 (4 GB) graphics.
